The European Commission clinched the EU-Australia free trade agreement on Tuesday March 25, exactly as forecast. The deal saves the EU €1 billion a year in duties, projects export growth of up to 33% over the next decade, and includes access to Australian critical raw materials — lithium, aluminium, manganese. Von der Leyen also announced a security and defence partnership.
